Wild West Weekend - Sefa wins Rumble, Bryn Thorne and Ricky Mandel New AWF Champs...

This weekend in the Wild West saw several Titles change hands including the Arizona Wrestling Federation (AWF) Heavyweight, AWF Women’s, and the United Wrestling Network (UWN) Television Championships.

After his third-place finish in the Against All Odds Rumble in Las Vegas, he did one better in Peoria, Arizona by winning the AWF Wildcard Rumble Saturday night. Fatu prediction was prophetic as he went south and got it done. This paints an interesting picture in Arizona as Ricky Mandel stunned WATSON last night taking the AWF Heavyweight Crown just weeks after he became Double Champ in a historic win. Now Sefa Fatu can challenge either guy for a shot at their Titles and holds a win over WATSON already in the Fight Capital. In the other match-up, Fatu has the size advantage over Sparks and would be the likely favorite. You certainly can’t underestimate EJ. He’s faced big guys before when he was Arizona State Champion with Championship Wrestling from Arizona (CWFA). The new AWF champion is very quick, intelligent, and resilient with plenty of Championship experience, and the first to win the CWFA Arizona State Title and AWF Gold.
However, none of his previous opponents were the Son of Rikishi. He is strong, physical and can kick your head out of the building. This was the worst case scenario for all of the AWF Champions because now they have “The Problem” on their hands.
Bryn Thorne is arguably the most popular wrestler in the AWF and she thrilled the fans in Peoria winning the AWF Women’s Championship from Leslie Iris. Thorne is part of a talented young women’s division and will have to fight twice as hard to keep the Women’s Title as she did to win it. This won’t be the last we see of Iris who had an impressive Title reign that included multiple wins over Mystique and last time out against Viva Van.
Scorpio Sky won his fifth UWN TV Title Sunday defeating Tyler Bateman in a small shocker. I certainly didn’t expect the GODDAMN MAN to drop the belt this quickly. He just collected the PP3CUP and defeated Royce Isaacs at Coastline Clash. This Title change could lead to a tasty Triple-Threat with Sky, Bateman and Royce but that’s strictly my hope.
