When Sefa Fatu “lost” the FSW Nevada State Title in June it was disappointing, but anyone who’s watched “The Problem” knew it wouldn’t be long until he had Gold around his waist again. It wasn’t. Fatu made his Arizona Wrestling Federation (AWF) debut earlier this summer winning the Wildcard Rumble, and last night he won his first Championship by taking home the AWF Heavyweight Title in Peoria, AZ at Southwest Indian Ministries.
Sefa took down WATSON who had a tenuous hold on the strap after becoming Double-Champion in April. He dropped the AZ State Title soon after but retained the AWF Strap despite challenges from powerhouses like Major League Wrestling’s (MLW) Hammerstone. Arizona is rapidly becoming a factor in the Wild West Independent wrestling scene, and with the Son of Rikishi holding their top prize things can only get better. There is plenty of talent to keep him busy in the Grand Canyon State as even more young stars like Shogun Jones are finding spots on the AWF cards.
This win gives Fatu tremendous momentum going into next weekend in the Fight Capital when he teams with Chris Bey and Shogun at Survival of the Fittest. He’d found getting his hand raised difficult recently (not his fault), and now that he’s back on track Arizona really does have a PROBLEM.
